On Saturday night we had Phil's parents visiting and we went to a bonfire night in a village called Rilpey.

It was early, because bonfire night is normally celebrated by the English on November 5th. They celebrate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in the 17th Century led by a man called Guy Fawkes, who wanted to blow up the Houses of Parliament with a giant gunpowder bomb. They have a big fire with a life size model of Guy Fawkes and they "burn the Guy"

At our bonfire night there was a large funfair, a big bonfire and a fire works display. We had a great time and then went to a pub.
